Asma Hamdi is a London-based digital artist, designer and photographer.
Asma’s practice spans design, photography and 3D, exploring themes of identity, memory and resistance through image making, visual storytelling and conceptual design. Drawing from folklore, visual art and cinema, her work moves between the familiar and surreal, combining different mediums to create narrative driven imagery.
Asma works across editorial and commercial design and photography. Her design clients include the ICA, London Longboards, Ghuraba and Wataan, while her photography clients include the V&A, Kazna Asker, Mykali Magazine, Intibint, British Omani Society, Lord and Duploy.
Asma is also the Creative Director and Designer of Al Yamaniah Magazine, a 284-page pioneering visual archive and the first print publication of its kind to focus on female Yemeni artists. She successfully wove together the work of over 60 artists, creating a publication that celebrates contemporary Yemeni creative practice and provides a rare space for their work to be seen, documented and shared internationally.
